Tomorrow's contribution amounting to US $400,000 will be made official.

The Trade and Development Agency of the Government of the United States (USTDA) will fund a research project at the airport Ernesto Cortissoz, with the aim of defining the best and most efficient way to meet the energy needs of the air terminal.

Through a meeting to be held tomorrow, Thursday, August 18, at 9:30 am at the University of North, the US ambassador in Colombia, Kevin Whitaker, and the manager of Cortissoz, Alvaro Gonzalez, will formalize the contribution amounting to US $400 thousand.

Nathan Younge, Regional Director of USTDA for Latin America and the Caribbean says "strengthening airport infrastructure is a priority for Colombia, so it is an honor to work with the Airport Group Caribbean in advancing this important goal that benefits Barranquilla and the Caribbean Region."

To develop the study, the Airport Group Caribbean has selected the American company Pos-En (Positive Energies) and the Research Center of the University of North Carolina, an institution founded by the National Science Foundation, which brings together several universities of the United States in the development of safer and reliable networks with the environment.

Also part of this project, the University of North and SENA, as it is transferring knowledge to teachers and students, and thus building a joint manner and agreed on a proposal for sustainable infrastructure in energy management for Ernesto Cortissoz.

"The idea is not to find a single source of energy for the airport, but contemplate a solution of renewable infrastructure. We are pleased, too, to know that scientific knowledge that will result from all this research process will move to the University of North and the Seine" said Alvaro Gonzalez, Manager of Cortissoz.

The Director General of Pos-En, Dan Gregory said "the proposed design approach seeks to contribute to the modernization of Ernesto Cortissoz, with a model oriented airport efficiency, reliability and security."

The total value of the project involves investment of US $763,000. In addition to the contribution of the Government of the United States, the American company Pos-En assumes US $200,000 and US $163,000 remaining supplies in the Caribbean airport group.

Ernesto Cortissoz International Airport, which serves the city of Barranquilla, was licensed by the National Infrastructure Agency to SAS Caribbean Airport Group.

DC Power for Data Centers
June 23, 2016 5:00PM EST

Sendai, Japan –Dan Gregory, CEO Pos-En, delivered a powerful message during the 4th international Next-generation Energies for Tohoku Recovery (NET) symposium, which was held on Friday, November 20th. “...Grid consumption in Japan can be reduced by ~50% in as little as two years,” asserts Gregory. The post-earthquake/Fukushima conference is focused on energy production and management solutions that can help facilitate the recovery of areas damaged during the devastating earthquake  in 2011.

Pos-En  is excited to announce that, in partnership with the City of Boulder, we have been chosen as the feature commitment to be highlighted at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) 2016 Annual Meeting. Dan Gregory will be representing Pos-En in New York City September 19th through the 21st, where the theme of the meeting will be "Partnering for Global Prosperity." There are DC and energy efficiency initiatives underway in Japan (see Nagoya University’s Green Mobility Center, and Tohoku University’s Ecollab.), which Gregory plans to collaborate with to bring his ideas into fruition.

The title of Gregory’s white paper is “Sustainable Building Infrastructure: A Disruptive Approach”, and is available for download here.

According to Gregory, the solution for Japan’s energy future is to reduce energy consumption “with a systematic integration program based on conversion of loads to DC.” The idea is simple: take out the conversions of electricity from Alternating Current (AC) to Direct Current (DC) by utilizing DC end-to-end, and the system becomes much more efficient. Solar power, battery storage, LEDs, and most other loads already function off of DC, so a transition plan to eliminate (or drastically reduce) AC is feasible. In fact, Pos-En currently has projects underway that utilize this approach.
